Il Peperoncino

It all started a long time ago when I ordered a sandwich with "spicy" chicken. But the sandwiches just came with chili sauce. That's not spicy at all, for my opinion. It brought so many questions to me. Everyone has a different comfortable level of spicyness. This was the beginning of my fascination with the red pepper. Also known as a Rawit in Indonesia. I started to investigate more about the history and different stories of the chili pepper. There are so many different layers to interpretate the story and fascination of the pepper. That's why I created this art piece where it all started. The different layers of each work stands for the many stories and the variations of interpretation.
